We are the first company in the Silver Jewellery sector to have obtained SA8000 Certification

Conscious of its social impact, and resolute in its belief that a company’s human resources can represent a priceless asset that can make all the difference in terms of performance, Better Silver SpA has decided to formalise its commitment to issues of social responsibility as part of its corporate strategies.

This decision has seen the development of a Social Responsibility Management System, in compliance with the SA8000 social certification standard.

In an increasingly global market characterised by fragmented value chains, Better Silver SpA has recognised the need to champion, in categorical terms, the ethical principles that have always guided its strategic decisions and operations.

Indeed, from its earliest days, the company has distinguished itself by the respect and consideration it has demonstrated towards its workforce, its attention to issues of workplace safety and its concern for the environment. Today, now that it forms part of a global value chain, these principles can offer a vital competitive advantage.

In particular, the company has recognised the need to make its operations more transparent from the perspective of its clients, particularly when it comes to the sector’s key players, who are looking to certify their entire supply chain.

The SA8000 certification standard encourages companies and organisations to develop, maintain and apply socially-responsible practices in the workplace.

Created in 1989 by Social Accountability International (SAI), it seeks to set out global standards for worker rights and workplace conditions, incorporating the relevant provisions of all existing international agreements, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the conventions established by the International Labour Organization (ILO), as well as other international standards on human rights and national labour laws.

In order to comply with the principles of the SA8000 standard, in addition to considering the working conditions of its own employees and those of its partners and suppliers, an organisation has to appraise the wider social impact of its operations. The standard can be adopted by any company, of any size, in any part of the world.

Better Silver is the first, and currently only, company in the Silver Jewellery Sector to have obtained SA8000 certification.
